COMMUNITY ADVOCACY

FUNDRAISING EFFORTS FOR TAWASAW INSTITUTE

Working personally with their Founder and President of Tawasaw Institute, I had the great honor of being a guest speaker at events where I talked about the importance of community belonging for young and new Muslims. During these events, the organization was able to fundraise enough donor support to provide educational and community-based programs and mentorship to children, youth, and professionals.

STUDENTS OF COLOR CONFERENCE, UC DAVIS 2023

During my time as Wellness Coordinator for the Underground Scholars Program at UCSC, my leadership team and I were invited to UC Davis for the annual UC-wide "Students of Color Conference," where we served as representatives of our campus, met with other campus leaders to discuss programming for underserved students across the UC system.

POWER CALIFORNIA INTERNSHIP, 2021

During my internship with the Power California nonprofit organization, I designed a youth workshop for young community leaders. This workshop taught young leaders about the historical and political significance of redistricting and what they can do to advocate for their local communities during election seasons.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP & DEMOCRACY AT UCSC

This slide deck is from a campaign project by the Student Organizational Leadership team who came together in protest of the administration's decisions to reallocate student-based fees that were intended for student programming. Myself and other student leaders presented to student groups across campus to petition the administration's financial decisions without student oversight or stewardship, an essential part of student fee bylaws. With this initiative, student programs were able to retain their funding and student-led financial stewardship was protected on campus during a turbulent time.
